The U.S. Department of Justice National Sex Offender Public Website adds a cross-state layer when a person may have lived elsewhere. It searches participating jurisdictions, but the originating state profile and Berrien sheriff remain the right sources for Georgia status.

Georgia Registration Levels and Requirements
Georgia does not use a simple public federal Tier I, II, and III schedule with automatic 10-year, 25-year, and lifetime terms. The Sexual Offender Registration Review Board assigns risk classes for supervision and notification. Registration under O.C.G.A. § 42-1-12 is generally for life unless a court grants statutory relief.
Classification and duration answer different questions. Level I signals a board assessment of lower likelihood, while Level II reflects intermediate risk. A sexually dangerous predator classification carries the highest statutory level of monitoring and notification. None of those labels creates a short federal-style expiration date. An unclassified or pending entry can still carry a registration duty, so the absence of a displayed level should not be read as release from the law.

Berrien's 1,000-Foot Rule
O.C.G.A. § 42-1-15 places certain 1,000-foot residence, work, and loitering limits on people covered for post-July 1, 2008 conduct. Statutory exceptions exist. A map estimate is not a legal finding, so ask the Berrien sheriff about local verification and seek legal advice for a disputed location.
A person leaving Georgia must report the new address to the last Georgia sheriff and register in the new state within 72 hours. Qualifying out-of-state, federal, military, and tribal convictions can create a Georgia duty. Juveniles generally do not register unless tried and convicted as adults.
